Submitted by Staff on Fri, 09/12/2008 - 11:17pm.
“Gargantua,” an exhibit of recent oil paintings and works on paper by Tim Anderson, will be on exhibit Fri., Sept. 26 through Sat., Oct. 26 in the main gallery of the Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St.

The opening reception will be held 1 to 5 p.m., Sat., Sept. 27 and Sun., Sept. 28. Admission to the reception and exhibit are free.
Tim Anderson lives and works in Chicago, and he has exhibited continuously since 1978 in Chicago and internationally. Anderson is a founder of The Coldhouse Group that in 1987 initiated a successful exhibition concept using abandoned cold storage warehouses and rail terminals slated for demolition as temporary exhibition halls. These shows led to an international exchange of art and artists.
In 1989, Anderson started exhibiting his paintings in Europe and continues to do so in Edinburgh, Moscow, Munich, Regensburg, Krakow, Wolfenbuttel, Italy, and, most recently, Paris. From these travels, he has researched and referenced his subject matter. Anderson’s fascination with the portrait as subject matter elevates his themes to a direct confrontation with humanity. He is represented by Thomas Masters Gallery in Chicago (245 W. North Ave.) as well as several galleries in Europe.
Recent solo exhibitions of Anderson’s work include “The Periodic Table” at the Lawrenec Asher Gallery in Los Angeles, “Metron” at Galerie Florian Walch in Munich, Germany, and “Rough River” at Thomas Masters Gallery.
Beverly Arts Center gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mon. through Fri., 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sat., and non to 5 p.m. Sun. 773-445-3838 or www.beverlyartcenter.org.
