"Beverly Now" activist at RHS
Submitted by Staff on Thu, 09/04/2008 - 2:22pm.
Program by L. Patrick Stanton, community activist and author of "Beverly Now," the 1971 plan that addressed integration and stabilization and is credited with keeping the Beverly/Morgan Park community together.
The program will be held at Ridge Historical Society, 10621 S. Seeley Avenue, and will also showcase "Students of History" - the current exhibit featuring the work of Chicago Metro History Fair participants from local schools.
This year's national theme was "Conflict and Compromise," and several students covered the integration of Beverly/Morgan Park as their topic, with reference to "Beverly Now." The students will be available to discuss their projects.
Admission is free. Refreshments will be served. The museum is open until 5 p.m. Parking is available on the street or at the Beacon Therapeutic School, at the corner of 107th St. and Seeley Ave.
Call 773-881-1675, Monday through Friday, from 2 to 5 PM for information.
