Six 7th grade students from Morgan Park Academy placed in the top eleven of all students at their level in the National French Contest, sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French.

The students took a standardized test that measures their ability to read, write, and understand spoken French. Their scores on the national exam were then compared to those of their peers. The MPA students and their ranks in the Chicago and Northern Illinois region are as follows:

1st place: Sydney Fishman of Palos Heights
4th place: Mariela Casimiro of Oak Lawn
5th place: Laura Misulonas of Beverly
6th place: Melissa Bonner of Flossmoor
8th place: Amanda Bollacker of Beverly
11th Place: Laura Cummings of Beverly

MPA French teachers are Sarah Haskins, Emily Clott, and Kathleen Tangel.
