Police log nearly 100 violations in one-day crackdown Submitted by Michael Fielding on Fri, 10/12/2007 - 9:26am.

Police in the 22nd District logged 96 violations during a DUI Strike Force Patrol Sept. 29, the department reported.

The purpose of the program is to continually monitor traffic for signs of impaired driving. Patrols also place emphasis on speeding, safety belt and alcohol-related violations.

In addition, the Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT) Mobile Unit may be deployed to allow officers to speed up the process of charging a person with Driving Under the Influence (DUI).

Police cited the following violations:
Driving Under the Influence (6)
Open Liquor (2)
Insurance Violations (11)
Occupant Protection (13)
Drivers License Violations (7)
City Sticker Violations (1)
Speeding (13)
Other Traffic Violations (43)

Total Violations: 96
