Submitted by Staff on Sat, 11/03/2007 - 5:19pm.
The Ridge Historical Society and Chicago folklorist and ghost hunter Richard Crowe are offering a ?Devil in the White City? bus tour from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Nov. 17.
The bus will make a round trip from RHS (10621 S. Seeley Ave.). Lunch at the historic Schaller?s Pump will be included in the price of the tour.
The ?White City? refers to the 1893 Chicago World Fair and the ?Devil? is Dr. H. H. Holmes, who is suspected of murdering perhaps hundreds of people at his ?murder castle? on the city?s south side during the fair. The tour will visit associated sites and other events in Chicago'?s history.
Richard Crowe, the tour guide, has appeared on the History Channel, Discovery Channel, CNN, ?Oprah,? ?Unsolved Mysteries,? and ?Wild Chicago,? and has authored the book, Chicago'?s Streetguide to the Supernatural.?
Tickets cost $50 for RHS members and $60 for non-members.
Reservations are required. For more information call (773) 881-1675 between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
