The Beverly Arts Center has been selected by the National Endowment for the Arts to host its Big Read program in fall 2007. The BAC will partner with area libraries, schools and book clubs to read and celebrate Ray Bradbury'?s ?"Fahrenheit 451"? with art activities, book discussions, a film showing and other events.

The Big Read is an NEA initiative designed to restore reading to the center of American culture. The NEA presents the Big Read in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services and in cooperation with Arts Midwest.

The south/southwest communities partnering with the BAC on the program are among nearly 200 communities nationwide participating in the Big Read in 2007.

Book clubs, Big Read events and exhibits will be hosted at the Center as well as the Beverly, Mount Greenwood and Walker branches of the Chicago Public Library, Alsip Public Library, Blue Island Public Library and Evergreen Park Public Library.
