Attempted kidnapping in Mount Greenwood Submitted by Michael Fielding on Tue, 11/10/2009 - 3:13pm.

Police have issued a community alert about three men who attempted to abduct a 14-year-old boy Friday in Mount Greenwood.

The attempted kidnapping occurred about 3:15 p.m. in the 10700 block of South Hamlin Avenue when three men in a dark brown minivan drove alongside the boy and parked their car, according to the alert from Calumet Area detectives.

A passenger got out of the car and ordered the boy into the minivan, but the boy ran home, and the would-be kidnappers drove away.

Descriptions of the offenders is as follows:

Offender #1, back seat passenger, is described as a male white, 17-19 years of age and was wearing a blue baseball cap and a dark brown sweatshirt with white lettering; no further description.

Offender #2, driver of the vehicle, is described as a male white, 17-19 years of age, blond hair and was wearing a blue shirt; no further description.

Offender #3, front seat passenger, is described as a male white, 17-19 years of age; no further description.

The car was described as a dark brown minivan, possibly a Chevrolet, with a sliding passenger door and dents, the alert said. The rear windows were covered with vertical blinds.
