Beverly and Blue Island Host First 2 Races in Superweek Pro Tour

Blue Island Mayor Donald E. Peloquin (left) and State Senator Ed Maloney (18th District) discuss the International Cycling Classic Superweek Pro Tour, bringing nearly 125 professional and elite amateur bicycle racers from around the world to Chicago's Beverly neighborhood and suburban Blue Island this month.

The 18-day cycling competition starts with the Beverly Area Planning Association's 5th Annual Beverly Hills Cycling Classic 100K criterium on Friday, July 13, 6 p.m., starting and finishing at 107th and Longwood Drive, Chicago. The first St. Francis Hospital Blue Island ProAm hosts a full day of races on Sat., July 14 starting at 9:45 a.m. at the St. Francis Pavilion Park at the corner of York and Western Ave.
Both events feature family activities and food and beverages. The Beverly Area Planning Association will also host the 5th annual Tour de Beverly Family Bike Ride on Sun., July 15, 9 a.m. Sen. Maloney is the family ride sponsor.
