Submitted by Staff on Thu, 06/28/2007 - 4:36pm.
Based on several of Dr. Seuss' popular children's books including 'Horton Hears and Who" and "Horton Hatches the Egg," "Seussical the Musical" will be performed at the Beverly Arts Center, 2407 W. 111th St., Chicago, at 10:30 a.m. and 8 p.m. on Thurs., Aug. 2 and Fri., Aug 3 as part of the Center's Bravo Jr. performance series for children. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for children 12 and under; group rates are available, and the show is perfect for summer camps and preschools. The colorful 1-hour show is appropriate for children age 3 and up; the language and humor are designed to appeal to older students and adults as well.
The main story of "Seussical the Musical" centers on Horton the Elephant with appearances by the Dr. Seuss characters that include Gertrude McFuzz, the Wickersham Brothers, the Whos, and even the Grinch.
Emceed by The Cat in the Hat with the assistance of a very energetic Thing 1 and Thing 2, "Seussical the Musical" features songs based on the books "McElligot's Pool," "Oh, The Thinks You Can Think!" "How Lucky You Are," and "The One Feather Tail of Miss Gertrude McFuzz."
The talented cast is comprised of 22 area teens between the ages of 14 and 18 who are enrolled in the BAC Teen Thespians theater program.
Performances are larger-than-life and costumes are color-coded to help younger students follow the action of the show and track the journeys of the main characters. The morning performances are designed especially for young audiences. The evening performances will be preceded by a performance by the new BAC Teen Improv Troupe.
